CREATIVE WORKSHOPS:

Intro To Broad-Edge Calligraphy by Rob Chase:

This workshop is an introduction to the fundamental concepts of the art of broad edge calligraphy. The materials, styles, and techniques of the art form will be covered in-depth as the student learns a simplified gothic script that focuses on the fundamental concepts inherent to all calligraphic styles.

Hand Stamp Your Own Cuff Bracelet by Linnea Imam:

In this workshop you’ll learn a brief history of stamped jewelry, and then create your own! You’ll use a variety of metal stamps to design your own custom motif that you’ll hammer into a cuff bracelet to keep forever.

Rubber Stamping and Block Printing by Marcos Crane:

This lesson is an introduction to block printing, or relief printing. With this medium, a design is carved into a base (typically a wood block, linoleum, or rubber) and this design is then transferred to paper with a thick ink. In this lesson, we will be carving small pads of rubber to make 4”x4” paper prints. We will work through a design, a drawing or a collage, and then walk through the printing process; transferring these designs to rubber, carving the rubber blocks, using a brayer to roll ink onto the stamp, and transferring your designs to paper. You will learn how to use the various tools in this process, as well as make a stamp and some prints to keep!

Tie-Dye by Batty Junior:

Anyone can create beautiful, one-of-a-kind clothing. Participants are encouraged to bring their gently used, light-colored garments to dye. Slightly stained or discolored items are perfect for tie-dye! We will bring extra tees and all the dye supplies necessary- bottles, gloves, rubber bands, newspaper, plastic bags, etc.

Intro to Acoustic Songwriting by Karima Santi:

Participants will be led through a songwriting exercise that allows for free creative expression while also deepening the students understanding of song structure. You will be given the opportunity to work independently or pair up to write your own lyrics and melody. At the end of class each individual or songwriting group will have a finished song (at least a first verse and chorus).

Landscape/Open Air Painting by Erica Prasad:

Participants will get to take home some postcard size landscape art that is ink drawing + watercolor. Having three small postcards instead of one large to work on allows each to dry between each layer and takes the pressure off to create one perfect image.
